Toyota Paint Code: Where to Find It

Your Toyota paint code is a 3-character code, such as 040 or 1G3, printed after "C/TR" on a white sticker in the driver's door jamb. On HiLux, LandCruiser and HiAce it's usually on a plate in the engine bay instead. That code is all we need to mix your touch-up paint to Toyota's factory colour.

Where to find the paint code on your Toyota

Model Where to look
Corolla, Camry, Yaris, C-HR White sticker on the driver's door jamb (B-pillar)
RAV4, Kluger Driver's door jamb. Some older models also have a plate in the engine bay
Prius Driver's door jamb
HiLux Engine bay, on the firewall or the build plate near the bonnet catch. Newer models may also have a door jamb sticker
LandCruiser, Prado, HiAce Engine bay, on the firewall or a plate near the bonnet catch

Open the driver's door and look at the edge of the body where the door latches. If there's no sticker there, lift the bonnet and check the firewall, the back wall of the engine bay.

How to read a Toyota paint label

Look for C/TR, which stands for colour and trim. It's followed by two codes separated by a slash, for example C/TR 040/FB20.

  • The first code (040) is the paint colour. This is the one we need.
  • The second code (FB20) is the interior trim. You can ignore it.

Toyota paint codes are 3 characters, letters and numbers mixed, like 040, 1G3, 218 or 3T3. If yours looks different, send us a photo of the label.

On a HiLux, LandCruiser or HiAce, the label lists COLOR and TRIM as separate headings instead of C/TR. The paint code is the one under COLOR.

Common Toyota colours in Australia

Code Colour name Type
040 Glacier White Solid
089 Frosted White Pearl
070 Crystal Pearl Pearl
1D6 Silver Metallic
1G3 Graphite Metallic
1K3 Celestite Grey Metallic
218 Eclipse Black Metallic
202 Ebony Solid
3T3 Atomic Rush Metallic
3U5 Feverish Red Solid
4R8 Inferno Metallic
6X1 Oxide Bronze Metallic
6X3 Jungle Khaki Solid
8W7 Lunar Blue Metallic

A colour can be called many different names. Silver 1D6, for example, is also sold as Silver Sky and Silver Pearl, and Glacier White is called Super White overseas. That's why we mix by the code, not the name.

Pearl and metallic Toyota colours

Pearl whites such as Frosted White (089) and Crystal Pearl (070) are built in layers at the factory. On a stone chip or small scratch, the shade matters most, so we mix these to match the shade of the finished colour. That gives a neat repair without the extra steps. If you choose the Professional Kit, we also supply the pearl layer.

Frequently asked questions

Can I find my Toyota paint code from the VIN?

Not directly. The VIN doesn't include the colour code. A Toyota dealer can look it up from your VIN, or you can use the label on the car.

Where is the paint code on a Toyota HiLux?

On most HiLux models it's in the engine bay, on the firewall or the build plate near the bonnet catch. Some newer HiLux models also have a sticker in the driver's door jamb.

What is Toyota's white paint code?

Toyota's most common white in Australia is Glacier White, code 040. Pearl whites include Frosted White (089) and Crystal Pearl (070). Check your label, as they look similar but need different paint.

Is Toyota Graphite the same as Magnetic Grey?

Yes. Both names are used for code 1G3. Order by the code and you'll get the right colour.

Will Colour Tubes paint match my Toyota?

Yes. We mix every order to Toyota's factory paint code in Brisbane, and deliver Australia-wide.
