Colour Tubes

Colour Tubes Deluxe Repair  instructions.

Our paint never separates, occasionally you can get some bleeding tints staining the outside of the tube, water based paint can also become thixotropic, thickening due to no movement.  For both of these reasons it is advisable to knead the tube before opening.

The tube on the right has yellow tint staining, the one on the right blue.  Both kneaded back in easily.

Paint Repair instructions.

  1. Clean the area to be repaired using pre-treatment wipes. Wipe dry.
  2. Cut the tip off the Colour Tube according to the desired size, usually a smaller hole is best.
  3. Apply a small amount of paint either onto the squeegee, brush or directly to the chip.
  4. Use the squeegee to level the paint into the chip if required.
  5. Allow the paint to dry for 2-3 minutes. In areas of poor ventilation or high humidity, assistance with a fan or hairdryer can help.
  6. As the paint dries it levels very well, the colour can also change a lot. Please do not judge the colour before it dries.
  7. Once dry apply a liberal amount of finishing solution to the wiping cloth, keeping the cloth flat rub over the repair until the excess paint has been removed.
  8. Wipe dry and clean the surface with the microfibre towel.
  9. If you wish to build in layers it is best to give it as much time as you can between layers, 10 minutes being the minimum an hour being optimal.
  10. Avoid harsh polishing or buffing for a period of 7 days
  11. You can reseal the Colour Tube using the supplied reseal stickers or use piece of tape if desired. It is best to clean the end of the tube with the precleaning wipes before resealing.

Pearl White notes – Pearl whites are originally 3 layer colours, made up as a base, a pearl layer and a clear coat, we supply these as the correct shade of white to match your colour as a touch up in a single layer.  We often supply an extra pearl layer, this is optional to go over the top if you like.  The pearl layer alone has very little opacity so is not suitable to be used by itself.  In most cases it is unnecessary.
